What You Are Supporting
Your financial support allows the Hernando County Composite Squadron to fulfill the Civil Air Patrol's three main missions: cadet programs, aerospace education and emergency services. Through these programs, we engage in many activities including:

Cadet Programs
Our youth program accepts new cadets starting at age 12. Cadets are encouraged to excel in life through character development, physical fitness, self-discipline and education. During the recent months, our squadron's cadets have:
- attended the Jet Blue University which included hands-on time in commercial flight simulators
- hosted a weekend bivouac for multiple squadrons in the Florida Wing
- toured Tampa International Airport
- attended multiple encampments at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center
- participated in the Florida Leadership Academy
- completed marksmanship firearms training
- received private pilot license training
- staffed the Air Force Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training
Aerospace Education
The squadron conducts monthly aerospace education classes for the cadets in the squadron that have included a cross-country navigation class, space flight education and outside speakers on a range of military, civilian and space flight topics. Senior members and cadets have also provided aerospace education classes to members of the public including a local homeschooling group.
Emergency Services
The Civil Air Patrol provides extensive emergency services including air and ground searches for missing planes and response to natural disasters. In 2022, the Florida Wing of the Civil Air Patrol provided extensive assistance during the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.
All of these activities cost money. While we are the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, nearly all of our funding comes from donations. Without your financial assistance, none of these activities would be possible.
